“When I tentatively approached Georgia to enquire about mentoring me through the final year of my MA at the Poetry School, I told her my goal was ‘survival’. I was struggling with my creative process, finding the course much more tricky personally than I had envisaged, but determined that I would complete it. The mentoring from Georgia has been instrumental in revivifying both my confidence and my creativity. Plus it’s been fun! A naturally enabling teacher and mentor, she has shown a genuine interest in my writing, while always being prepared to question, make suggestions, and crucially, expand my poetic horizons in ways I’ve found inspirational and enabling. Georgia wears her own learning very lightly, but is steeped in extensive reading of contemporary, and less recent poetry, and in reading around it, which I’ve found invaluable. I feel now I’ve done far more than survive – whatever the fate of my poems, I have not just completed the MA, but found it personally rewarding.
